Load and Destroy: Reckless Drivers Show No Remorse

Load Craze's risky business model continues to endanger Los Santos streets, as unchecked drivers haul carelessly secured oversized loads with little regard for public safety.

A new advertising campaign encourages senior citizens to supplement their retirement by signing up for Load Craze. But critics say the app's questionable practices now risk lives on both sides of the wheel.

Pulled over Load Craze Driver.

Just last week, a 16-year-old Load Craze driver overturned his pickup truck while attempting to haul a stack of unstrapped steel beams taller than his cab. The scattered metal closed the Del Perro Freeway for hours.

"He had no ropes, no safety gear. The piles of steel just slid right off and crashed into oncoming traffic," said one motorist.

It's just the latest in a string of hazards and injuries linked to Load Craze contractors improperly hauling deliveries in unsafe vehicles. Last week, police arrested a driver after his roof-mounted hot tub detached and struck a family's car in Blaine County killing them.

Authorities are fed up with Load Craze dodging accountability.

"It's mayhem out there with these unvetted, untrained drivers hauling god knows what,"

But the app insists it's just a platform.

"Our drivers are independent contractors fully responsible for securing loads,"

said CEO Harvey.

"We can't control what happens after they accept a gig."

Some teenage drivers echo that defense.

"Hey man, I just do what the app tells me. Not my problem if stuff falls off,"

said 17-year-old Tyler, hauling a teetering stack of tires in his hatchback.

The lack of accountability has proven deadly in even more cases. Just a few days ago, an unsecured 800-pound statue flew off a Load Craze truck on Senora Freeway in Blaine County near Grapeseed Exit, crushing the car behind it and killing a mother of three.

Investigators discovered the driver had stacked the unwieldy statue without any straps or padding to prevent shifting. But he maintains Load Craze's policies said nothing about properly restraining cargo.

In another incident, a Load Craze delivery of volatile chemicals tipped and ignited, forcing the evacuation of a whole neighborhood in East Los Santos.

"It was like a war zone, with debris raining from the sky,"

recalled resident Wyatt .

Following public outcry over these incidents, Load Craze agreed to implement new safety protocols, including having drivers submit photos of secured cargo prior to departing. But most believe the measures are too little too late for the company to reform its freewheeling ways.

“The damage has been done,” said grieving widower Ronald, whose wife was killed by an unrestrained Load Craze delivery. “They can claim ignorance, but blood is ultimately on their hands.”

As calls for tighter regulation of delivery apps mount, many wonder if Load Craze's business model was ever sustainable or just a high-risk house of cards destined to collapse. Either way, San Andreas continues to count the costs.

And until Load Craze implements stricter policies and training, officials say overworked and overwhelmed drivers will continue cutting corners and wreaking havoc across San Andreas.
